英南東部ケントの州議会で、少数派の議員たちが国歌「ゴッド・セーブ・ザ・キング」を歌い止めず、右派リフォームUKの議員たちを困惑させた。「メトロ」紙が伝えた。

州議会で多数派を占めるリフォームUKは5月、全体会議を国歌斉唱で締めくくるよう議会規則を改正。この規則導入に反対していた緑の党のマーク・フッド議員は、何番まで歌うか定めていない「抜け穴」に気づき、実は6番まである国歌の歌詞を印刷して会議で配布。他党の議員も巻き込んで歌い続けた。リフォームUK議員が席を立ち始めるなか、少数派議員たちは4番まで進んだところで議長に打ち切られた。

フッド氏は後日、「1番だけ歌うのは中途半端ですよね」と皮肉った。

ちなみに、国歌の全曲は以下の通り。
